Yet More Rain
It was Enzo yet again at a damp and dismal Oulton in the latest round of the Le Mans Auto Italia series. He finished half a minute ahead of the star of the day, Brian Thorp, who drove
a stormer to take second overall in the filthy conditions.
Qualifying was also held in the wet with Enzo topping the charts a second clear of returnee Paul Buckley and the amazing Mr. Thorp third overall and first in Class D five seconds in
front of nearest rival, Bernard Pranic. Fourth overall was Julian Birley taking the Class C pole ahead of Robert West and Ian Connell who was back in the fray to defend his position. Terry Davies' Alfa 33 headed up
Class B with Jim Price behind. Jim was sadly to have a damaging shunt in the race. In Class E, Graham Warner had to give best to Steven Pahlke.
The most important thing in the race was to keep heading in the right direction and on the tarmac. Enzo did all this and won with Brian Thorp revelling in the conditions behind him,
narrowly pipping Paul Buckley. Offs around the circuit meant the Class C lead was in doubt, finally being taken by Julian Birley from Ian Connell. Russ Yates took Class B and was the only finisher in class as was
Graham Warner in Class E.
